Challenge: Improve ad response rates from campaigns testing
outdoor billboard and bench ads, and local movie-theater advertising.
Strategy: Switch from a numeric 800 number to 1-800-NEW-BATH,
and begin using it in existing campaigns.
Results: Call volume soared – owner Robert Glassberg
saw a 200 percent jump in ad response. Glassberg explains, “The 1-800-NEW-BATH
number is more memorable; the amount of calls we are getting is incredible
compared to our old number, where we got next to no response.” So incredible
that Glassberg decided to share the leads with competitors. He explains, “We
had more business than we could handle, and if others use the number, then
we can save on advertising.”
Glassberg has enlisted other franchises in neighboring areas to begin using
the number. Incoming calls are distributed seamlessly to the different franchises
based on geography. The different franchises then work out deals to share advertising
costs.
Glassberg uses the online call tracking reports for targeting as well as staffing. “We’ve
been able to get a better idea of what demographics we are attracting,” he
says. “We can also see who has called and when our heaviest times are
so we can schedule people to be in the showrooms at those times.”
